The challenge
The platform shipped fast and broke often. There was no dedicated quality function, so testing happened in production and the support burden that created was consuming engineering capacity. Property listing data arrived from multiple broker and developer sources in inconsistent formats, and data quality problems surfaced as user-visible errors: duplicate listings, wrong prices, properties that had already been let. Arabic search was returning poor results because the search index had been built for English tokenisation.
What Corpshore did
We placed a six person pod covering platform engineering, dedicated quality engineering and data engineering. The quality function was set up first, because shipping faster into an untested system was making the problem worse.
We built automated regression coverage across the critical user journeys in both language directions, introduced test environments that mirrored production data shapes, and made deployment conditional on the suite passing. On the data side, we built an ingestion and normalisation layer with validation rules and duplicate detection at the point of entry rather than reconciliation afterwards. Arabic search was rebuilt with proper Arabic analysis, including root-based stemming and diacritic handling, which the original index had not attempted.
Delivery model
Dedicated pod, mixed Dubai onsite and remote UAE, embedded in the client's product process.
Results
- Production defects reported by users fell by 64 percent over two quarters.
- Duplicate listings reduced by an estimated 88 percent following ingestion validation.
- Arabic search result relevance improved materially against the client's own evaluation set, and Arabic session engagement rose accordingly.
- Engineering time spent on production support dropped by roughly half, which the client reinvested in feature delivery.
- Release cadence increased even as defect rate fell.
Why it worked
The instinct in a fast-moving product company is that quality engineering slows delivery. In this case the absence of it was the bottleneck, and adding it increased throughput within a quarter.
